Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She is the only person to be awarded 10/10 marks in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics trainer who became Comaneci's coach later in life found her around the age of six. Her first competitive event was the National Junior Championships where she placed 13th in the year 1969. In 1970, she won. In her very first international event in 1972 she took the top spot having won three golds. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. The year was 1976 when she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and became the first woman to ever dismount parallel bars using the double backward salto. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol's professional career started in the entertainment industry as a teenager. Early on Carol was an ice figure skater for traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. These shows were ice skating events that included theatrical performances.
