April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born on July 4th April, 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began to take guitar lessons and piano lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for music writing. When she was in seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano classes. The lessons sparked her passion in songwriting. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing songs and honed her musical ability. She started writing songs with her dad at home in NY and LA soon after. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle with issues such as social pressure and teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a partner at the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it's not the entire picture. So, Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't shy away from her handicap, however it's not focused on it either. The message is? It is important to remember that each of us has many faces, our identities are diverse and we're more than our bodies. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't intend to let it define my life. I don't want to be only recognized as an expert in disabilities. My daily life isn't affected by it. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. Since it's a part of who I am, it's something that's worthy of discussion. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts for a long time, and she can be a role model for this purpose. However, she admits to going through periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance and wearing clothing that showed her arms. She is able to wear anything she likes, and is proud to share photos of herself in these outfits. For her, self-love is a long journey. The same is true for everybody regardless of their level of insecurity. I believe having friends close to you who truly understand you and can see your feelings is crucial because they'll be the people that remind you of what are you worried about?
